This year's summer vacation was glass camp: a week of intensive glassblowing. It started on the preceding Friday with a lesson from Chris Watts.

He showed us how to make cylinders if you're good at this, and a new technique for them called the Seattle Dump:

  1. Get some glass.
  2. Get some more glass.
  3. Block it into shape.
  4. Equalize heat.
  5. Put a starter bubble in it.
  6. Marver at a 30° angle. marver at 30 degrees
  7. Blow. blowing
  8. Heat the crap out of it.
  9. Dump at a bench. dump
  10. Baby the head up to level and blow it out.

Or sometimes just blow it out.

Also...be careful when gathering.
